Creative Coding TurtleStitch

In february I was in Brussels to give a TurtleStich workshop on the Fosdem Conference. I gave a small presentation and then the persons in the workshop could try out the website and put their patern on a USB stick, so i could print it on my embroydery machine.

TurtleStitch is an online (free) block coding program to make patterns for you embroidery machine created in 2015. The results appear in the preview. If you like it, you can make an export to a .dst format, put it on an usb stick, and put it in an embroidery machine (I have the Brother M340ED).

The basis for Turtle stitch is Turtle and Logo developed in 1967 by Seymourt Papert. In his paper “20 things to do with a computer” from 1971 you will see lots of mathematical patterns. Seymourt Papert was a math teacher and he wanted to make math more understanding to students.
